About
Today, Severn School launches the Graw-Cromwell Challenge, a $2 million matching gift challenge led by two dedicated Severn families in support of the Our Future, Our Severn: A Promise campaign. With your campaign support, we will rebuild the Lower School on the Chesapeake Campus and redesign and expand the heart of the Teel Campus–the Price Auditorium.
While the Graw and Cromwell families have long left the classrooms of Severn, they remain forever connected to the school. Dr. Bob Graw, a renowned Annapolis pediatrician, has seen the impact of a Severn education firsthand through his three children and two grandchildren. Mrs. Barbara Cromwell, a former teacher and lifelong advocate of learning, recognizes the impact Severn made on her husband George ‘49, an entrepreneur and businessman. While their past commitments have already transformed our campus with the Graw Innovation Center and the George Cromwell ‘49 Rotunda, today they take an unprecedented step forward with a $2 million match challenge to our community.

“The Graw and Cromwell families are planting the trees under which others will sit and enjoy the shade,” notes Head of School Doug Lagarde. “Today they take the unprecedented step of supporting both the rebuilding of the Chesapeake Campus for our youngest learners, and the Price Auditorium on the Teel Campus, a place where our community gathers and celebrates as a whole. Our goal is for us, as a Severn community, to follow in their footsteps by stepping up to match their commitment.”
